On Monday, August 5th, I started my learning process and prepared for the driving test. On the first day, I trained for reverse exercise. Mike, the Viamaster instructor, introduced me to the truck, showed me all the controls, did a daily round check, and explained the reversing part. I have jumped straight in and started practicing. I have managed to do it on the first attempt! I had a go multiple times, and then Andy, another Viamaster instructor, came and tested me. I have passed and didn't even come out of the truck to make sure I was in the bay with the back of the truck. I was confident. The rest of the day we have spent on the road, Mike drove first and explained everything in detail. Then I jumped in and went for the first time on the road. It was a lot to take in at first, but I have managed to control the truck safely under Mike's supervision. The second day was a full day of learning and driving on the road with Andy. I'm going to start by saying how amazing Andy was. He gave me so much knowledge, experience, and confidence. He explained everything in detail; he pointed out and focused on the things I was doing wrong. Two main things I was most struggling with were junctions and roundabouts, parked cars, and hesitation. We have pulled in on the side of the road a few times and talked it through. Andy's knowledge and experience were key here for me to understand what I was doing wrong, and I have learnt from it. On the third day, the driving test day, I applied everything I learnt, and we had a 1.5-hour drive before the test. Before the test, I was stressed, and though I was really nervous on the test, I was wrong. It wasn't that bad at all, and I think my confidence and ability took over. At the end of the day, I was prepared, thanks to Andy. The test went really well. I passed and got only one minor for junctions—observation. 06/11/2024 update Another first time pass, this time C+E! Special thanks to Pete, an experienced, knowledgeable, and professional trainer. He is very good at pinpointing and focusing on things I was doing wrong but also very good at praising good driving. Amazing experience. I was trained by Pete Betty I and would like to say a massive thank you. I want to personally thank him for being able to individually recognise my needs and his ability to adapt to every situation. He could easily approach me about my weaknesses and help me work on them. His professionalism and approach is the reason I could get this far. Thank you very much

I would highly recommend Viamaster, the instructors are all friendly courteous and knowledgeable. I spent a week at Castleford having never driven a truck before and was at ease straight away with expert help from Phil Aston. Thank you so much 😊

I did my C1 training with Viamaster, they were amazing! I was scared to drive a bigger vehicle as I have never driven anything bigger than my car but Martin made me feel at ease and explained everything to me. Really good instructor. Answered any questions that I had thoroughly and I think because of the thorough training I passed my C1 first time! Karl was helpful after I passed - Would recommend !
