This is an excellent new building for Mablethorpe, with a very impressive gym and modern equipment.

However, this is all let down by the less than impressive cleanliness in the men's changing/shower area. Having to stand in other people's pubic hairs and snot is incredibly off-putting and unhygienic. The flooring in the shower cubicles is really grotty, with the same clumps of hair remaining there for days on end.

When you spend £300 on a gym membership, you expect a certain level of cleanliness, especially in areas where you are washing yourself, then putting-on clean clothing.

The flooring in the shower cubicles should be scrubbed with hot soapy water, then disinfected with bleach. This routine should happen 'EVERY SINGLE DAY,' without fail, or exception. The floors in there should be spotless and free of bacteria. I don't just want a rudimentary sweep with a brush to make it appear clean. I want all of the bacteria on the floors to be killed with bleach. There is nothing more frustrating than coming home from a dirty gym, to then find out that you've caught a skin infection, athletes foot, or verruca's. It's just not acceptable and is totally preventable..

At the moment, I fear this gets done once a week maximum, else the duty manager is not doing a very good job of monitoring the standard of work of the staff they are overseeing.

I really hope this message has the right effect, as it is written in good faith. The facility is an otherwise exceptional venue.

As a brand new building, it is very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a good mix of single and family changing rooms, there are hair dryers and showers available and everything is very well laid out. The pool area was very clean and is obviously well looked after by the staff.

Sat in the cafe which has a great view of the swimming pool. Ordered 2 all day breakfasts. Service was excellent. Breakfast was lovely, hot and tasty. The w.c.s were spotless. I am so glad we came here it was wonderful to go somewhere new and modern, so many of the cafes are old and tired.

Anyone going for swimming when the lanes are laid out, be aware the lifeguards will not endorse the fast or medium swim lanes. They will not ask anyone slowing the lanes down to kindly move over. This was not someone unable to keep up, this was 2 people doing leisurely breaststroke in the fast lane because the two lanes area was busy.

When I asked the male attendant on, he shrugged his shoulders saying there is nothing he can do.

You shouldn't be advertising lane swimming with a fast and medium lane if you're not going to allow that to happen, you will lose more than me.

Membership cancelled after 2 days, pity because it's a great asset on my doorstep but I won't be back.

Update on 17 September 2024

Replied to their request the day after, they have not replied and done anything about the complaint I made, be aware, the responses they make on here is only for show to anyone reading, I will not go back.

Waited in the cafe area for my wife to finish her class.
I feel the reception area and cafe could be better laid out.
In the toilets are warm air under powered hand driers that do not dry your hands, Dysons would have been a wiser option.
