Such a warm welcome here. Beautiful rooms, quaint building but modern rooms with plenty tea, coffee and hot chocolate options. |The most dog friendly accommodation I have experienced if I am honest. Dogs are welcomed and even get breakfast sausages on request. Speaking of which the breakfast is a delight and plentiful.|Every person who works there that we encountered was very pleasant and went beyond the service we would expect. |A real gem of a place on the mouth of the beautiful Langdale Valley

We had a great experience staying at your lovely hotel. The staff exceeded my expectations, wherever they received training, we should all go there. They were so polite, offered to help without being asked and made us feel very comfortable wherever we were in the hotel. Room was spacious, clean and calm. Great entertainment provided; pool table, board games room, great beer 🍻 and a good place to eat breakfast and dinner. Many lovely scenic views and walks nearby. Thank you for your hospitality and I really recommend to anyone who needs to stay in the area. Agnieszka and Mariusz.

We recently stayed here for a night between Christmas and New Year. The setting is beautiful with river walks close by and easy access to Ambelside. ||This is a real oldy worldy, picture postcard hotel. You are greeted at the entrance by a roaring open fire, closely followed by an even warmer reception from Helga who makes you feel extremely welcome and relaxed. ||The lounges, pool room and dining areas all had a warm, cosy feel... like being at home for Christmas! ||The bar had a relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. It is very doggy friendly and we almost wished we had a dog, just to fit in! The dogs seemed to be catered for, just as much as the people which was a lovely touch. ||The room was well equipped and again had that cosy feel. It was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom featured an enormous bath which would be great after a long day walking or exploring. ||We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast. Both times we were greeted and served by two attentive and friendly staff members. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the menu had a great selection. ||We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others especially if you are dog lovers! Thank you for making are stay so relaxed and comfortable.

I have been staying at Skelwith Bridge Hotel for many years and it never fails to impress. The rooms are warm, cosy, spotless, comfortable with lovely white towels and bed linen. Fabulous breakfasts and great evening meals which I usually eat in the bar. The location is out of this world with walks in every direction. The other truly impressive thing about Skelwith Bridge Hotel are the amazing staff who are not only friendly and helpful, but work so incredibly hard to maintain the amazing standard that they do. Stayed here for a couple of nights over New Year. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The cooked breakfast delicious, especially the veggie sausages!
Great location, beautiful spot next to a fantastic cafe and gift shop and lovely walks.
The weather was awful- never seen rain like it! But had a great time anyway.

The location of hotel is peaceful and great walking opportunities. The food was lovely and hospitality fantastic. However, the hotel and accommodation is really tired and in need of completely updating.....this spoiled it for me as it could be a fantastic little gem.

I would just like to say how fantastic our stay has been at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel in Ambleside Lake District. I would like to personally think Helga, Bobby Tracy and Louis as well as the kitchen staff for making our first trip away with our 20 week old border Collie Puppy so fantastic. The hotel , the food the staff were so welcoming to such a young puppy and we had the best time the rooms were spotless clean and you would never have known that this was a dog friendly hotel. We will be looking to book again at the end of January. We enjoyed our stay so much the staff really do make this hotel with the level of customer service that they give to the guests. I so highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is considering taking their pet on holiday with them as you will get nothing only fantastic service from the staff at this hotel. I hope that the management read these reviews and have to say that the staff truly do deserve positive feedback for the level of service they give to all people who stay there. Really looking forward to our next visit five star service with five star people working there like I said rooms were spotless and the food was fantastic. Could not wish for a better start 2025. Having stayed at Skelwith Bridge Hotel for our honeymoon 28 years ago we try and return each year. This time for 2 nights in room 11 which is perfect. Large double aspect room with a massive bath and spotless. The staff cannot do enough for you nothing is too much trouble (special mention to Katie who on 2 occasions chased after my husband who kept leaving his jacket!). We ate on the first night at the Talbot which was absolutely delicious (roast dinners). The breakfast too was of excellent quality and plentiful. If you like walking this is the place for you fabulous walks from the doorstep. All in all a fantastic break and we cannot wait to return.
