This was by far the worst ice skating experience I’ve ever had. The skates were in terrible condition—completely worn out, uncomfortable, and impossible to skate in properly. It felt unsafe and ruined the entire experience. I paid Ā£25 for two people, only to be charged extra for skates, which were handed to me with a ticket scribbled on a random piece of paper. The lack of professionalism was shocking.

For the price, I expected at least decent equipment and a smooth experience, but instead, I was left frustrated and disappointed. I genuinely feel like I wasted my money and would appreciate a refund. This place is not worth the time or cost, and I absolutely do not recommend it to anyone looking for a proper ice skating experience.

Upkeep of this building is shocking and the toilets need serious investment, they smell terrible. 😢. I’ve often visited and seen broken glass and once experiences a staff member breaking the rest of a broken light with tied on hocking sticks. Very strange.

It a big place for all you can enjoy, there’s no time limit so you can play for as long as you have strength, they do have openings n closing time so kindly check before you leave and there are two time slots so always check before, it’s huge for groups, easy accessible parking but you make sure put the paid ticket otherwise you will receive šŸŽ«
You have to pay for your shoes. Good customer service and friendly as well. There are plenty of space for sitting in as well but always make sure you put warm cloths on as it’s cold inside.

Visited with daughters football team, looked on line in advance no mention of needing to pre book. Everyone meet with cash to pay themselves in, only to be told no cash, can’t pay on card and have to pre book on line. All the players parents gone home, spoke to manager of the rink who wouldn’t accept the cash. Team manager had to book everyone in on an app that doesn’t accept Apple Pay so caused problems when he didn’t have his card. Still a massive line of people having to prove their booking to one person on the till, would be quicker to accept cash or card payments all round and won’t cause the hassle for customers would hadn’t pre booked which there was plenty.

I went here today with my wife and daughter having pre-booked online, which as it turns out is the only way. It was not overly busy like I remember from the past and only had to wait 5 minutes or so to get our skates. This was about 12:00 - there was a bit of a queue a few hours later as we were leaving though. At one point the rink was cleared of skaters and they resurfaced the ice. Probably took them 15 minutes but was worth the wait. I must say that the ice marshals are all excellent - they rush over to anyone who has fallen to make sure they are OK and help up if required. Two of them were even kind enough to help and give a few skating tips to my wife and daughter.

What an incredible night at The Storm Shelter, home of the Manchester Storm! This venue, owned by Planet Ice, added to the overall enjoyment of the event. The facilities provided by The Venue were not only suitable but also contributed significantly to the game day experience.

As for the Manchester Storm, they truly put on a great show. While the Nottingham Panthers emerged victorious with a 4-2 win, the Storm displayed remarkable sportsmanship and determination throughout. It's evident that this team has a bright future ahead.

The atmosphere in the arena remained family-friendly, and the club shop offered reasonably priced merchandise for die-hard fans. Refreshments were also available at acceptable prices.

Additionally, The Venue offers public ice skating and lessons during the week and weekends, making it a versatile and engaging place for people of all ages and skill levels.

I wholeheartedly recommend attending a Manchester Storm game at The Storm Shelter to support this exceptional team and enjoy a fantastic sporting experience!

I frequent here for the ice hockey and there's absolutely no complaints about that. Plenty of food and drink choices on offer (expect queues though), good club shop and the atmosphere is incredible. Fans are like no other, always so friendly and helpful. Storm Support do an amazing job supporting the club and fans too.

The venue however could do with an update. Some proper ventilation and some new plastic panels would go a long way to improving the experience on both game days and general skating sessions. Toilets also could do with an update.

Highly recommended for a visit on a game day.

My daughter is currently having a small class lesson every weekend. It’s not the first time we came here and we know that we always need to drop her off at the end of the hallway for the lesson.

On 17th Nov, we were 5 minutes late for the lesson and we told one of the female staff about it. She told me it’s fine and directed me to the end of the hallway and waved at the instructor. I did what she told me. But as soon my daughter was off for her lesson, the ice marshal suddenly showed up behind me and scolded at me that I am not allowed to be here. Even though I explained to him that I was literally just dropping my daughter off for the lesson. But he would not let me finish speaking and keep telling me that this is a party area. But there was nobody there at the time being. He got very angry and accusing me not listening to him. I told him that it is one of his staff tell me that I need to come to this area for the lesson and since I am late, the instructor would not come out anymore. I explained to him this is not my first time and I am not going to stay in this hallway forever, I am just about to go to the cafe. He kept shouting at me and repeating the same stuff. He is being so rude and racist to me and he would not listen to my explanations.

His attitude and behaviour towards me were appalling to say the least, bordering racism I would imagine, as there’s no other reason I can think about for his manner.
Even if I was in the wrong place I would expect for him to be gentle and polite in dealing with the situation. Instead he proceeded to scold me and tell me I’m not listening, when I was trying to explain I’m there at the direction of another of his colleague.

I was also carrying my baby and with 2 bags of nappies and changing clothes, being clearly visible that I’m struggling with everything . So instead of being polite and helpful, he chose the rudest approach to me and treated me like I was a subhuman that shouldn’t be there.

I guess this is how black and Irish people felt back in the day when they were heavily discriminated against, I felt that first person because this ice marshal made sure of it.

When he saw me getting very upset, he had the nerve to smirk at me and wish me ā€œa great dayā€, which is beyond rudeness and touches into the realm of derogatory and insolent behaviour .
