Great place to stay at if you’re exploring The Lakes or the local town of Rydal or Ambleside. There is yoga here in an adjoining studio, an open log fire & a lovely hot tub behind the house. There is also The Badger pub about a quarter of a mile away that serves lovely pub meals & it’s only 5 mins in a car from Ambleside town centre.

We are from Switzerland. On our trip through the Lake District we stayed at Nab Cottage with our two teenage daughters where we had a most wonderful time. The rooms came with a magnificent view overlooking the lake. They were clean and cosy. We have travelled a lot in England and these were the best showers we ever met – up to top Swiss Standard and a far cry from the usual lukewarm trickle you often find in England. Dinner was really delicious. The staff catered for all our different eating habits (vegetarian, vegan and meat eater). The location by the beautiful lake is just magic and perfectly situated for walks around the lake, over the fells or into the nearby Ambleside and Grasmere. The owners were very friendly, just like the people working there. What a treat to relax in front of a burning log fire in the beautiful sitting room after a long walk. Nab Cottage, we definitely will be back! Hopefully even longer next time.

This was my second time staying at Nab Cottage and it is the perfect retreat in the Lake District for yoga and writing! It’s like you are stepping back in time. A beautiful, cozy cottage and a large yoga studio next to it. The bedroom was lovely, overlooking the lake, very comfortable bed and pillows. I would highly recommend this guest house and I look forward to staying again soon!

We were so lucky to get a booking due to a cancelation. Tim and Liz are so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are cosy but beds very comfy and it was refreshing not to have TV's in the rooms, felt like a proper digital detox for ourselves and our teenage kids. Waking up to the sound of lambs in the fields behind, we borrowed their canoes to go out on the lake and they cooked us the most incredible Sunday roast chicken for our dinner. Our kids weren't so pleased with us taking them away from their friends for the week but within 24 hrs of being in Nab cottage, they had reconnected with nature and the world around them and want to return as much as we do.

Thankyou for a wonderful weekend with our family. Your rooms are very comfortable and the breakfasts and service were accommodating and thoughtful. Stunning views of the lake and mountains and the secluded hot tub was a lovely surprise.

This is such a beautiful place which overlooks a small lake and is surrounded by hills. It's in such s perfect, tranquil location and is ideal for a retreat. The furniture throughout is contemporary and very elegant. All the rooms are well laid out with comfortable beds. Each room accommodates 1 - 3 people and some are ensuite. There is also a separate bath. Thought to be haunted, so paranormal activity has been documented.

Just had a fantastic weekend in the Lake District. Stayed at Nab Cottage which is in the most stunning location. It is a shame it is on the busy road between Grasmere and Ambleside but the views more than make up for that. Staying at Nab is like stepping back in time. The floors are completely uneven and the floorboards creak but that all just adds to its charm and unique quality. The owners LIz and Tim could not have been more friendly and helpful and recommended a couple of really great walks. The breakfast was very tasty especially the home made bread. We will definitely be back.

We came to the area for a wedding and decided to stay in this charming cottage in an idyllic location at the foot of Nab Scar, overlooking Rydal Water. ||||The cottage was built in 1565, so is full of character with a cosy sitting room. Our room was clean and comfortable, and had a good en-suite shower with fluffy white towels. ||||Liz and Tim made us very welcome and were prepared to adapt the delicious freshly-cooked meals to suit dietary preferences. ||||A warming and welcoming experience and we could readily see why so many people return time & again. We will be back.
