Good stay. This "hotel" is a little quirky. but overall good. If not obvious it's a building (converted office I think) opposite the main Aztec Hotel who operate this "lodge". As such checkin is done over the road, and for any evening food you'll need to go over the road as the "pub" nextdoor shuts at 7pm and doesn't really do food (I think they offer pizzas). The food at the Aztec is good, if not really "budget" like the lodge! This is a bit of a strange vibe, but works well and staff very helpful and willing to help out by printing a document I'd forgotten.

The rooms at the lodge are actually pretty nice. Standard is high with comfy beds, nice bathroom etc. and good facilities (e.g. kettle/iron etc.) - very much above the 2* listed and above typical PI/Travelodge fare. Few quirks - lack of plugs near bed (why is this so typical!) and a couple of bits in the bathroom starting to show their age (not in any way unclean - just rusty screws here and there and a fussy flush).

Breakfast is at the pub nextdoor. It's best described as a "cafe" in the mornings - and you get one coffee/tea of your choice (nice to have a proper barista cappucino), a pastry, a bacon/sausage bun and a choice of cereal/yogurts. It's perfectly decent for what you get - and actually I find it a pleasant change from a full English buffet.

Very happy to stay here - and the price has often been good. It's funny as you feel like the hotel could, with not a huge amount of effort (checkin at the pub, longer food service etc.) get away with charging a bit more for this place...

The room:clean, cosy and relaxing
The shower: powerful, simple and perfect
The sleep: The best night in months
The staff: The most friendliest, accommodating and hard working I have ever seen.

This is the second time I have stayed here and, I'll admit, words cannot describe how absolutely perfect it is. Book direct though! I will definitely be a repeat guest โ˜บ๏ธ

We booked a family room for 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 children age 14 and 7. When we got in our room we could not believe that our children were supposed to sleep together on what can only be described as a cheap camp bed with a very thin mattress. I was aware on booking that they would have to share a sofa bed but this was ridiculous. My 14 year old is 5ft 6. Her legs hung off the edge and there was definitely no room for two children to sleep in that.

I went to reception to speak with someone who advised all family rooms are like this and there was nothing he could do.

Another point to make about your โ€œfamily roomโ€ is the frosted glass bathroom door which is pretty much see through. My 14 year old daughter felt particularly uncomfortable having to use the bathroom where everyone could see her. Not something you would expect from a family room.

We had a terrible nights sleep and then had a 4 hour journey to Cornwall to make feeling tired and stressed out. We wonโ€™t be back

I love this place. It's my go to if I'm staying in Bristol. Definitely get the all inclusive breakfast. Great value and the Black Sheep restaurant is a great place to eat.

We stayed here for three nights. The room was spotless and a good size, better than most. The shower room was clean. There was a hair dryer but it was not in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Good size car park. There was no restaurant, it was done at the pub next door (part of the same complex). This however, was a major dump. The staff looked dirty, the furniture was shabby and fraying around the edges. The food was poor quality. The toilets were disgusting, the floor looked like is was mopped with dirty water you could see where dirt had built up over the years. There were obvious successive picking sitting on the toilet picking their noses an flicking the results on the door.
If you stay at the place you will need a better place to eat, it would not be hard to find cleaner

The rooms are great, however, the check in process takes quite a lot, as you have to do it in the hotel across the street.

Also, they charge you 3.50 GBP for parking and you have to pay in a cafe. I feel like this should be included in the price.
