Very friendly and calm people, lovely horses. We booked a pop up pony trec . The day was very wet but the staff were friendly and good natured. Very calm and chatted to my slight nervous first time riding children, about the horses. Although we couldn't do the full route because of the field being so wet we rode in the school instead and everyone had a lovely time dispute the weather.
Thanks for being so kind. Calm and friendly

Visited this place in July 2023, we were in Lake District for couple of days and we booked one day in advance through email.
The place is very nice with excellent horses, very friendly staff, good pace of riding. We all enjoyed as a family, we had an informative grooming session, riding the horses, then fun competition and activitirs with the kids !! Overall, excellent experience and this is mainly because of the staff, if I can recall her name correctly “Zara”.
The place would be perfect if a small food and beverage or cofffee station is available.

Would definitely recommend and will certainly return in the future.

Excellent 5-day trail ride, made so by the friendly, enthusiastic people, excellent horses, good pace of riding, spectacular scenery and the lunchtime pub stops - very civilised. With one slightly disappointing exception the food & accommodation were first rate.

Well schooled horses available to suit a wide range of ability and size of rider. A forward going Irish Sport Horse type made for a great riding holiday. Good saddles too, took a seat saver but didn’t feel the need to use it.

Would definitely recommend and despite living 300 miles away will almost certainly return in the future.

This place is fabulous! The school itself is lovely and open and there is a calmness about the place. Me and my husband booked a 1 hr session with Zara being basically beginners and she was amazing. Her knowledge and professionalism was evident. It wasnt like other riding schools I have been to. At Harness Change they like you to feel closer and understand the horse so we spent time before our lesson tacking and grooming our horse. This was great! We loved doing this. The horses are excellent and well trained. We also had a coffee afterwards and a good chat with Sheila who helped me with my balance and some good tips for core training. This place is where you go if you really want to learn how to ride !!

We went for the advanced hack with Zara and had a wonderful time. She is a brilliant rider and made for a fantastic lead for our hack out. The views were stunning and the area is wonderful for riding. The horses that we rode were extremely responsive and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it, and would love to go back. It was a challenging but exhilarating ride with lots of canters - definitely for those with more confidence / experience, otherwise it's best to go for an easier ride or a lesson. Very much recommended, it's clear that they know a lot about their horses and we got so many great tips to continue improving our riding. They take a great deal of care to ensure their horses and the riders are comfortable before setting out.

My Daughter and I had three private riding lessons last November at this Equestrian Centre. We were staying in Ambleside and the waether was terrible with rain so hard we had to drive through flooded roads to reach the centre. Well it was certainly worth it. We have ridden before, but not for a year so we wanted bringing back up to scratch or beyond. Our Coach was Paris and my horse was Sid and my daughter's was Flash. We have not had such good teaching in years. Paris made it so easy and the horses helped. We were in doors due to the blanket hoizontal rain. We covered classical training techniques over the three one hour sessions which finished with us being able to walk, trot and canter. We could also do some dressage moves as well. Despite being stiff by end of day three it was worth it. We are now back riding at home.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pet dogs were fun and wanted to be patted. Facilities were new and very clean especially the toilets. Prices were very reasonable and they accept payment by credit card as well. You can hire all your necessary gear if needed. We provided our own. We will be returning on our next holiday to the Lake District.

We visited here during the Easter holidays. We booked for our daughters in for the Easter decorate a pony, lesson & hack. My daughters absolutely loved it! They have never been to an equine school nor groomed a horse or pony. The staff were so lovely. The horses and ponies were beautiful. Such a gorgeous place with beautiful scenery. My daughters brushed and braided their manes, cleaned hoofs, and applied glittery hoof oil. They really loved it with having experience at all with horses or ponies. They then got to go indoors and ride the ponies, they learned how to saddle and all the parts to the riding equipment. My daughters were so delighted . So much so we will go for the pony club on Saturdays. This is a three hour lesson on Saturday, no experience needed were they can ride, help look after the ponies and groom them. The staff were professional, polite and it was a really great experience. Thank you !
