This was a last minute and by last minute I mean 6:30pm on a Saturday arrive at 7:30pm, lovely old building. On entry, dinner was being served and It smelled great. We had already eaten, but had arranged to go to a nearby pub. We came back late and there was a code to get in the building which worked well.||Nothing was a bother, we were greeted by the the owner and shown to our room. We were the only ones at breakfast but everything was laid on as if there were more. the Cumbrian breakfast was excellent and we had a wander in the garden with the dog. Nothing was a bother for staff. We said we would like to come back for a meal sometime. We love Alston!

The owners were lovely, the spot is fantastic, and the restaurant was delightful. It was freezing outside with some unexpected snowfall but we were warm and cozy in the hotel. Would definitely stay again and absolutely eat at the restaurant!

Very friendly and welcoming with excellent food. Lovely location and we had a comfortable, spaceous room. With the old building and single-glazing it was a bit drafty and chilly but otherwise we had a good stay and would recommend.

Lovely old hotel. Big room. Nice bathroom. Views across the valley with snow for us ! Friendly staff and nice food in the restaurant. Nice old market Town of Alston. Good vfm. Highly recommended

Stayed here for two nights 18th and 19th September 2024. Carole, and the staff are very friendly. Our room was very comfortable, with quality shower gel/shampoo/conditioner, which was a nice touch. Also in the room was a hair dryer. Lot's of tea bags, milk, coffee, selection of sweets, and even kitkats..... We stayed for dinner on both nights, and was not disappointed. The chef produced some tasty meals..... and not forgetting the breakfast which was well stocked, and the Cumbrian Cooked Breakfast is to die for! We were lucky enough to have hot weather (21 deg!!) and so were able to experience the garden, which is private, and a lovely spot to relax in. All-in-all this hotel was worth every penny..... we would definitely recommend it if you are looking to stay in Alston.

We had a 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. The welcome was wonderful and the staff throughout the stay were all helpful and very friendly. The food both for breakfast and evening meals was exceptional. One of our party has a food intolerance to the onion family and this was handled brilliantly by the waiting staff and kitchen. ||I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a warm and welcoming stay.

Wonderful little hotel. Tastefully decorated rooms. Old but refurbished. No standing shower in the room we had but the bathroom was lovely with a lion footed bath. Very clean and comfortable. The hotel has an adorable small garden at the back with a small cafe. Beautiful in a sunny day. Staff very friendly. They can’t do enough for you.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch after a nice long walk. Friendly staff, great service, delicious food. Were sat by a lovely fireplace, felt very nice and cosy. Would visit again!
